MachairWind is a proposed offshore windfarm located northwest of Islay and west of Colonsay, with a generating capacity of around 2 Gigawatts. We are currently undertaking a six-week public consultation focused on the windfarm development area. The other parts of the project (the export cable corridor and onshore infrastructure) are being consented separately, and consultation will follow on these at a later date. This map provides a visual representation of the proposed windfarm development area from various coastal viewpoints. As the visual impact must be assessed based on the worst-case layout, this map shows a layout comprising the tallest turbines (91 turbines with a maximum blade tip height of 335m, in addition to 2 offshore substation platforms). You may notice viewpoints 18 (Scarba) and 24 (Staffa) are not shown in photomontage drop down menu. These viewpoints were created as wireline drawings. They are available to view at our public drop-in events, or they can be sent via email upon request. We hope you will find this interactive map useful and encourage you to view the rest of the virtual consultation room to find out more about the project. You can share your views by attending in person or virtual events, completing our online or printed feedback form, or by writing to us via email or letter, find out more by clicking this link: Public Consultation - ScottishPower Renewables If you have any trouble navigating this map, or if you have questions about the project, please get in touch:machairwind@scottishpower.com
